PREMIERS / RUNNERS UP AWARDS
President's Award 2011 - Roger Cooke
It is a pleasure to present Roger with this special award in recognition of his 15+ years involvement as a player with the VBBA. Roger’s quiet and positive manner are always an encouragement and example to other players, and it is a delight to recognise his contribution to the Association in this way. Congratulations and thanks, Roger! Best wishes for your retirement.
In recognition of the Award, a donation has been made to the World Harvest Basketball Tours to the Philippines.

It will not only provide very low fees for those who can’t afford the normal high fees (thanks to your sponsorship), it will also seek to develop the young person in all matters of life (physically, socially, psychologically, emotionally, spiritually) through team times and specific mentoring. Ignite seeks to change young people considered ‘at risk’ to the future leaders of its programs.

Red Dust Role Models a Melbourne based health promotion charity that operates in remote indigenous communities throughout the Northern Territory, Western Australia and Tiwi Islands. It uses the profile and influence of positive role models to deliver health messages and inspire healthy lifestyle decisions among disadvantaged, indigenous youth. The RDRM objective is to have indigenous youth enriched through a series of community visits aimed at conveying healthy lifestyle messages. Elite athletes and other positive role models volunteer their time to visit schools and health clinics within the communities we partner with. Donations and sponsorships allow more children to experience our Lifestyle Education Program which we currently deliver throughout the 16 community visits we will make during 2008. Every $100 raised allows one child to benefit from this 5 day program. For more information talk to Darren Smith (Doncaster CofC) or visit www.reddust.org.au
